Robert Jeffries DeSoto, Joined Starfleet for adventure and exploration, but instead is a glorified bus driver for admirals and ambassadors being driven somewhere. Often goes by the nickname "Bobby D".
Bobby drinks a little too much whiskey to deal with the stress of having admirals constantly on board the Hood. Using the opportunity to make connections, though, for his future post-Starfleet attempt to become President of the Federation.
Bobby's middle name is a reference to a maternal great grandfather who is the Jeffries of Jeffries tubes fame.

Bobby would go out to the bars on shore leave with his XO, Will Riker before Will was transferred to the USS Enterprise.
